Childhood Depression Treatment Looks Different at ResWell
In Addition to Standard Treatment Options, Your Child May Benefit From Our Integrative Therapies:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- CBT is an evidence-based form of talk therapy that helps children identify and address negative thought patterns that contribute to depression.
- With this treatment, your child can learn effective coping skills that help guide them through recurring symptoms and other challenges in the future.
- CBT can work well with other childhood depression treatments, including equine assisted therapy, neuromodulation, and other forms of talk therapy.
EquusLed Program
- EquusLed involves interactive horse activities and experiences that can help improve mental health issues and promote emotional growth and learning.
- Your child can expect to engage in activities and/or unstructured interactions with the horses — no riding is involved.
- Children learn about themselves and others and then discuss their associated feelings, behaviors, and patterns with our expert child and teen depression treatment specialists.
Neuromodulation
- Neuromodulation, also known as neurostimulation, is a non-invasive treatment that can help address depression. Though research is still ongoing in children, studies so far have found neuromodulation for depression to be safe, effective, and long-lasting for adults.
- Neuromodulation can be especially beneficial for patients with treatment-resistant depression that medication, therapy, and other approaches cannot effectively address.
Personalized Fitness, Nutrition, & Mindfulness Program
- Physical well-being supports optimal mental health, so your child will receive expert guidance on physical activity, nutrition, and sleep as part of their depression treatment plan.
- Our clinical dietitian will develop an effective nutritional plan for your child.
- Our resiliency coaches will provide your child with personalized physical activity/yoga routines, mindfulness exercises, and meditation techniques.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most effective treatment for depression?
Most patients benefit from a combination of treatments that are personalized to their specific situation and needs. Treatment may be most effective when combined with talk therapy, equine therapy, and other treatment modalities. We believe integrative treatment that includes nutrition, sleep hygiene, and daily physical activity makes the biggest difference for our patients.
How do I know if my child is depressed?
If your child displays some of the symptoms listed above, and those symptoms interfere with daily life, depression could be the reason. However, a comprehensive evaluation by a childhood and teen depression treatment center is necessary for an accurate diagnosis. Pharmacogenetic testing can then assess how your child metabolizes different medications if used in treatment.
Do you see adult patients with depression also?
Yes, we are board-certified with nearly 20 years of experience treating adults. Our behavioral therapists have expertise in depression so they can provide comprehensive treatment plans for patients of all ages. We offer Spravato (esketamine) for treatment-resistant depression in adults.
Do you offer telehealth appointments for patients with depression?
The first meeting is always in person. We do provide telehealth follow-up appointments to make treatment as easy and convenient as possible for our patients and their parents. Specific availability depends on the treatment plan developed with your provider.
Do you accept insurance for your childhood depression tests and treatments?
While we do not accept insurance, we do provide our patients with the documentation necessary to file a claim with their own insurance carriers.
