Helping girls build confidence, connection, and strength through movement

Girls in Motion is a ResWell+ group that combines movement, mindfulness, and connection to help girls build physical strength, resilience, and a healthy relationship with themselves and others.

Through fun, supportive activities and group discussion, girls will explore what it means to be strong—not just physically, but in their minds and hearts. Each session provides opportunities to build strength and endurance while developing skills that support confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.

Girls will learn to:

  • Try new things and embrace challenges
  • Build confidence and practice positive self-talk
  • Recognize their strengths and foster friendships

Frequently Asked Questions

What is prescribed movement?

Prescribed movement (yoga, mobility, cardiovascular endurance, strength and conditioning, core and balance) involves customized plans designed to address specific health issues. It’s more than just general fitness; it’s about using exercise to target areas of mental and physical health in a way that is structured and scientifically validated.

How does physical activity integrate with other treatments at ResWell+?

Movement is a powerful complement to other treatments such as psychotherapy, medication management, and mindfulness practices. Integrating physical activity helps enhance the effectiveness of these treatments by improving overall physical health, which is crucial for mental wellness.

Can I participate in prescribed movement if I have physical limitations?

Absolutely! Our programs are tailored to meet the needs of each individual, regardless of physical capability. Modifications and alternative exercises are always available to ensure everyone can benefit from physical activity safely.

What should I wear and bring to my exercise sessions?

Comfortable, breathable clothing and appropriate footwear for exercise are recommended. You may also want to bring a water bottle and a small towel.

What does research say about movement and mental health?

A wealth of research supports the benefits of regular physical activity on mental health, including reduced symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress, and improved mood and cognitive function.
